First off, thank you for reading this far. From the first part, to this, the last part of the rowing series. Say No to your comfort zone is my own way of closing this series. I pray that you won’t read alone, but also act on these words.

If you haven’t read any of the parts, you can find it here: second and third parts. This will give you a context to understand this last part.

Prior to going on this rowing adventure, I purposed to not go. However, I decided to take a leap of faith. Imagine I hadn’t gone for the event, this article and series would be non existent.

For you, your comfort zone is comfortable. However, to experience life and opportunities, you have to say no to your comfort zone. How and why you may ask.

In Matthew 14:22-32, you see the story of Peter walking on water, and then being afraid, sinking. Before diving into this, what do you know about Apostle Peter? Essentially, he was a fisherman. This automatically means that Peter could swim. He had an advantage because of his ability to swim.

As Jesus approached their boat, Peter quickly asked that Jesus command him to walk on water. If you look closely at this, this particular experience is out of Peter’s comfort. Don’t forget that, he can only swim, not walk on water.

While Peter is walking to Jesus, he allows fear to get the better of him. Once Jesus catches him, He asks him “why did you doubt?“.

If you followed closely, you will see Peter say No to his comfort zone, and walk on water. However, he allowed fear to linger. You and I are like him, saying no to our comfort zone, but allowing fear to fester

Normally, water gives a larger than life outlook but your faith matters. Imagine Peter never walked on water, he won’t know he’s able to do it.

This applies to you as well: If you don’t say no to your comfort zone and try, you’ll never know if you can be good at it. You don’t have to be perfect, but you must try.
