A marathon with its challenges?
Right off the bat, you probably are thinking that I’ve run a marathon, well, somehow
Are you a Christian Student? Do you feel discouraged sometimes? Are you looking for ways to encourage yourself in the faith ? Well, you’ve come to the right place!
I’m Funmi and right now, I am using this medium to encourage you to trust God no matter the circumstance.
N.B: I will be quoting my friend (Nike)’s write-up for this page. Anywhere you find her name, she owns all rights to expression used therein. All expressions written by her are in italics
Once upon a time (actually last year), I was in this phase where everything I read or did affected me and took a toll on my faith. In the middle of fighting a silent battle,people would always ask me how I could do it all and not slack (No offence taken).
My desire to make an escape room for young people going through so much led me here.
This is what you are currently reading and I hope it encourages you and gives you reason to trust God regardless of the storm.
Initially, when I asked for contributions from Christian students, there were 8 questions but I grouped them into 6 categories for better understanding.
The 6 categories are: Identity, The Christian Journey, Challenges faced, Overcoming these challenges, The Christian Relationship and Encouragement for students.
You know, if you tell yourself the truth , who you identify as defines everything about you. When I started my blog last year, one of the first articles I wrote was ‘Who do you identify as?‘ . I’ve found that many young Christians struggle with the idea of who they are outside of the church.
Another way to look at it is: You know who you are but can you boldly own that identity outside?
Are you ready to own that identity?
We both have different journeys with regard to our faith but one thing that’s clear is you never remain the same. There’s always something that makes you stand out in the crowd.
In the words of my friend Nike, “The Christian journey has been a very interesting ride…it’s been one of being broken, daily death (dying to self), joy, peace, love, faith, highs&lows, victories, growth and surrender amongst many.”
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”(John 16:33)
Can you identify the challenges you face in your daily walk with God? Do you think you are the only one going through it? The main aim of this section is to let you know that we all go through these challenges, what matters is that with the grace of God, you will rise above it if you determine to.
With every phase of life comes challenges, whether little or big,what matters in the long run is how you handle it.
In her write up for this page, my friend Nike says that the ideal way to overcome these challenges is to “Put God at the centre of everything”
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
The relationship you have with God is confidential and what transpires during your conversations directs you on what and how to go about it.
For her write-up, Nike says “My relationship with God is rather intimate. I’ve discovered over time, that community will not give you what time alone with God (intimacy) will. “
“Your relationship means no third wheels”
The ability to be motivated or encouraged comes from within you. Above all, God is willing to use and communicate with you directly, Don’t take it for granted.
In the words of Nike,
“Never be afraid or reluctant to get alone with Jesus. The secret place is where purposes are birthed”
