Read the previous article here! Who is Jesus Christ? You might know that Christians are his followers but he is much more than we ascribe to him . In this post, We’ll look at the various titles Jesus Christ holds (or should hold) in our life.

First and Foremost:

Description of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ died to give us access to God

Jesus: Our Saviour

‘ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. ‘ John 3:16-17

Sin is anything that stands out of (disobeys) God’s will and commandments to us. God sent his only son to the earth to redeem us from sin and give us the luxury of communicating with him on a personal level. Jesus Christ came to the earth to carry the weight of our sins on the cross of Calvary which wasn’t his but ours to carry.

Are you ever in those moments when you feel like running from your responsibilities because the weight is burdening? Jesus felt exactly the same way, he didn’t want to bear the pain of our sins but he did nevertheless :

‘Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. ‘ Matthew 26:36-39

God loves us well enough to send his son to the earth to die for our sins in order to give us access to his presence and an opportunity to become saved i.e Citizens who enjoy the benefits of God’s Kingdom(Heaven).

Jesus : Our Lord and Friend

For someone to be your Lord, you have to accord some form of respect to the person because the person is in a position of authority over you.

Would your friend offer to lay down his/her life for you to live guilt and sin free? Although your friend may not, Jesus did already. He died for you to attain a position rightfully yours: A Child of God.

‘For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. ‘ Romans 5:6-8

I don’t know how you choose your friends but my friends are Quality over Quantity. Jesus offers a friendship in which we benefit, grow and look out for each other.

From my experience, Jesus is always there to listen, comfort and encourage me when I call to him. So much more will he do for you when you come into his friendship and family.

Jesus: All in one

‘… and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ‘ Isaiah 9:6

Jesus Christ is so much more than I can ever write about. When he comes into your life, he changes you and the way you see life. I know, I have been there and I also want you to get that life changing experience.

‘And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. ‘ Mark 1:9-11

One thing that amazes me every time is how God the Father describes Jesus as his beloved son in whom he is pleased. Jesus died for our sins in order to give us access to God:

‘Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. ‘ John 14:6-7

Jesus already died for you to gain access into the kingdom of God, all that’s left is for you to acknowledge that you need him in your life.

When Jesus was crucified on the cross, the veil shielding us from God was torn.

‘Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; ‘ Matthew 27:50-51

Are you willing to acknowledge that you need God in your life now? Please say a word of prayer acknowledging you would like to be part of God’s family. If you don’t know how to, call on God.
