For every decision we make, there is always change to make in order to fully acclimatize to the decision made. Depending on the decision and the person, change could be good or not so good. Either ways, Change is constant.

Finding God needs change; You might want to ask Funmi what are you talking about? you didn’t tell me all this was going to happen when you started.

There are some things that are sure to change when you find God, it could be your speech , your attitude towards life or whatever needs to be worked on. Something definitely has to change .

‘Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. ‘ 2 Corinthians 5:17

Growth Stages (Credit: Google)

Using myself as an example, A lot of things have changed in me since I found God and I can happily say I have grown since finding God. I was once like a sprout in the picture(on the far left) , since finding God I am now like the seedling(on the far right) ready to move out of the nursery ;).

What exactly has to change when you find God? Independent of your personality :

Your attitude to life

When God comes into your life, you get to see life from a whole different view. How’s that possible you may wonder?

‘ “No one uses a piece of new cloth to patch up an old coat, because the new patch will shrink and tear off some of the old cloth, making an even bigger hole. ‘ Mark 2:21

Your attitude to life says a lot about the person you are and wish to be. God is not willing to use the past attitude you had, he wants you to develop a new attitude in which you see life with better meaning and greater understanding.

When I found God, I could not imagine what it would feel like to live without him again. I saw life as a new opportunity to be someone better and do something greater. I feel inspired everyday because it’s only by God’s grace that I live everyday.

Your Speech

Nice Work!!! (Credit: Google)

Are you the type of person that would say nice and kind words to people or not ? When you find God, you need to develop the attitude of saying kind words to people because: ‘ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. ‘ Luke 6:45

Sincerely speaking, my life has changed since finding God. I am very watchful of the things I say and how I relay messages across to people when they hurt me or say things behind my back or make mistakes .

When I was in high school, I learnt this : 3 Questions to ask before you say anything : Is it Kind?, Is it True?, Is it Necessary?. It always works!

Relying on God

When you find God, you have to trust him to get you to the right destination just as you trust the bus driver or pilot to get you to your final destination.

‘“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?’ Matthew 6:25-27

On this journey, the one thing we need to do is trust God because only him knows what is going to happen during this journey.

There are a lot of times I have learned that I cannot do a lot of things without involving God. God has always come through for me in various ways, how much more for you when you call to him and involve him in all you do.

Do not judge

As people who have God in their lives, we ought to do to others what we want done to us:

‘“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? ‘ Matthew 7:1-3

A lot of times, we are not perfect even if we try to be. In our bid for perfection atimes, we judge people based on how they look, dress and a lot more which is not supposed to be. God is telling us to stop judging people because the view we are looking at it from is never the right view.

Shine

In order to shine, you need to be spectacular in what you do: Being a great representative of God’s Family and Giving your best to whatever you find to do.

‘“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.’ Matthew 5:14-16

In my view, I believe that being a part of God’s Family gives you more opportunities to shine because there is no avenue to say “I cannot do it” , “It’s impossible” or things like that.

‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ Philippians 4:13

But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” Luke 18:27

In order to shine, you need to give everything you do your best shot. A lot of times irregardless of what people say I can or cannot do , I try to give whatever I do my best shot because I feel the need to inspire someone that they can achieve their dreams if they work real hard.

No matter how under appreciated you might feel a lot of times, God knows that you’re giving your best and he will bless you accordingly.

The most important thing

Create and spend more time with God: reading his word, gaining wisdom from him and a lot more.

As new members of the family of God, everyone needs to have a Bible: God’s word to us. I recommend downloading the Youversion Bible App or buying a hardcover Bible that’s easy to read( For recommendations, please contact me and I’ll help you find the best Bible for you).

When you spend time reading God’s word, you get to see what God needs you to see and understand. Every single time I read my bible, It’s a new experience because God speaks to me every time in a different way and through different Bible verses.

Are you willing to create time for God in order to truly find him ?

Irrespective of whatever change you work on, Remember that all of this is a process. When the final product is ready, you’ll be grateful for the process.
