A few articles ago, I wrote about standing in the gap. Recently, I have come to an understanding about this and the kind of prayer that works. Since I shared the first article here, I thought to share this here.

In August last year, while praying for a country, God began to speak to me. He mentioned that it’s not enough to pray once. It’s got to be a continuous effort, not a one time prayer.

This brings to mind 1 Thessalonians 5:17 which says: Pray without ceasing.

How many times after praying for a request, are we quick to move on the next prayer point?

If you read the story of the widow and the judge in Luke 18:1-8, you’ll see the kind of prayer that works and why it works.

1.One day Jesus taught the apostles to keep praying and never stop or lose hope. He shared with them this illustration: 8.God will give swift justice to those who don’t give up. So be ever praying, ever expecting, in the same way as the widow. Even so, when the Son of Man comes back, will he find this kind of undying faith on earth?”
Luke 18:1‭, ‬8 TPT

The kind of prayer that works is one of constant intercession and persistence. One which can be described as an effective fervent prayer, according to James 5:16.

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

In case you couldn’t read through the article, the kind of prayer that works stems from a place of persistence. Be persistent in the place of prayer and expectant, God will answer you.

May God grant you and I the grace to never cease praying, though the answer tarries.
