Disobedience comes with consequences

About 2 months ago, I learnt a big lesson, one I am now ready to share with you. Truthfully, I don’t even know where to start from but I will share the origin of this story. The story is centered on Disobedience.

Usually, I am not afraid of the dark but in May, I found myself unable to sleep in the dark. If you are wondering why, I don’t even have an answer to the question. All I could understand is when the lights are off, my eyes refuse to shut.

On this fateful night, I had a leading to turn off my phone light and actually sleep in the dark. However, I couldn’t do it, I was too scared of that thing I thought would catch me in the dark.

Eventually, I did sleep off and when I woke up, the lesson began. There was a certain ache in my right thumb, it wasn’t pain but I was very irritated. I remember praying the ache away but it just wasn’t leaving.

When I realised this, I carried on with my day per usual. About the time I started settling with the pain, I heard a whisper “Disobedience comes with consequences”. Finally, I reckoned the pain was as a result of my disobedience.

Why?

Please note that I had the opportunity to obey the prompt but I did not. Even when I realised and apologised, the ache did not go away until later in the day.

My apology did not take away the consequences of my disobedience.

Do you ever feel like you shouldn’t bear the wrath of your actions after you apologise for the offence? Sometimes, that is not the case. Even when you acknowledge your disobedience, the consequences are still valid.

In Jeremiah 30, God restored Israel and Judah after they disobeyed Him. Although, He didn’t leave them unpunished; He left a reminder for them.

Jeremiah 30:11b says that “But I will correct you in justice, And will not let you go altogether unpunished.”

God loves you but sometimes you and I need that constant reminder; disobedience will always come with consequences. There will be restoration for you when you acknowledge your disobedience.

  1. I think this is such a hard but important lesson, and ending it with the fact that God loves us is also important because Gods love includes discipline. Someone who truly loves us would want us to learn too. Awesome post!

    1. Thank you Seyi ❤️, I believe that we all need this lesson so we don’t ever take the love of God lightly.

    1. I think it’s that one lesson many people try to avoid. May God help us to imbibe this lesson and to not take it for granted. Thank you Emma 😁
