It’s that time of the year again when the air is filled with so much love, it leaves you wanting the love you see all around. For Valentine’s day this year, my gift to you is this article : Better late than never. I will be shedding some light on the love language of God in this article. Enjoy!!

Recently, I checked on one of the first posts I wrote on this space : Should I love conditionally? , I couldn’t believe I wrote it. You should check it out too, if you have never read it before. I don’t know why it intrigued me so much, maybe because it reminded me of God’s love.

God’s love is so captivating ; always patient, ever kind, encouraging and so many other things. Hopefully, you will see it as all of these by the end of this article.

The Inspiration behind the title

A lot of things have occurred since the year began; For me, there is this realisation that some people still don’t understand God’s love or even know Him. I want others too to know and experience this love and know that it’s better late than never to acknowledge God’s love.

For the purpose of this article, I will use a common analogy:

Every year, there’s a huge deal around Valentine’s day and making it special for you and your loved ones. There’s no boundary to the show of love because it’s just once a year you get to celebrate in grand style.

As you celebrate love, there should be a constant reminder that God loves you and loved you first. He saw you first, chose you first and loved you first. God’s love isn’t like the love of Man, If God loves you then He loves you, No conditions.

‘We love Him because He first loved us.’ I John 4:19

God loves me?

Everyday, He shows this love to you even in the things you don’t regard; Sleeping and waking up, going out and coming home safely. Every time, God goes the extra mile just for you.

The depth of God’s love for you is hidden in 1 John 4: 7-21 and 1 Corinthians 13 . Before you even existed, He gave up His only son just for you to have life:

‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. ‘ John 3:16

No greater love than this exists that God let His only son die for you to have life. There’s a Bible verse that says : ‘It is a difficult thing for someone to die for a righteous person. It may even be that someone might dare to die for a good person. ‘ Romans 5:7

It’s better to realise God’s love late than to never realise it at all; Don’t take it for granted that someone died so you can have life.

He’s waiting for you

Now that you know that God loves you, He’s waiting for you to acknowledge Him as God in your life and join His family.

‘“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ‘ Luke 15:4-5

Well, don’t take too long deciding if you want to join the fold cause it will be one of the best decisions you can ever make. I took that decision a few years ago and I’m happy with the outcome, you won’t regret it 🙂 .

Of course, there are times when the person God has been trying to reach out to isn’t responding . In better terms, I would say ‘isn’t willing’ ; He doesn’t give up on them immediately. After a while, if they still aren’t willing, then He will not strive with them anymore.

‘He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever.’ Psalms 103:9

Better late than Never?

If you haven’t observed the love language that God speaks in this article yet, then I will let you know : The love language that God speaks is Mercy. When I thought about it, It didn’t seem so obvious till I started writing this article. You can find it in Psalm 103 .

When you look at all the verses cited in this article and the various instances, they all had to do with God going all out for us even when he could have left us.

Personally, I believe it’s better to be late than to never turn up. Likewise, it is better for you to know God late and let Him in than to never even know about Him. You have the opportunity today, Don’t miss out on it !!
