Is there a reason why you should cherish the time you spend with God? Definitely!
Do you ever think about why a lot of emphasis is laid on spending time with God?
Well, I do and it’s possible you have thought about it before; Could you come up with an answer?
It’s okay if you couldn’t because I will highlight the answer in this article.
But first, I will share a personal story with you; One I believe happens to the majority of us, if not all.
Debrecen – the place where man meets nature – you may not have heard of this city but it’s in Hungary (Central Europe). I was there a few months ago on an adventure with my sister, it’s a good location for a retreat from busy lifestyles.
While visiting the city, I had the opportunity to meet up with a friend I hadn’t seen in 2 years. All 3 of us -my friend, sister and I – had a lunch date, quite enough time to catch up on each other’s lives.
At the beginning of our conversation, my sister was on her phone texting people she sees everyday. Unintentionally, many of us fall into this situation; Meanwhile, the person you rarely see is right in front of you.
1 out of 3 people are guilty of this; not being present in the moment and cherishing the time you get to spend with the person across you.
Well, she did drop her phone and enjoy the conversation in the end.
The reason: Letting you in on the why
In the first days of 2020, I had some time to dwell on the word of God; I was enlightened about a few things which I will share here in due time. In this time, I had a unique insight about spending time with God.
This insight, I believe is so common yet proving to be valuable every time.
For you to understand, I want you to work with the analogy below:
Booking an appointment
To see an important person, you need to book an appointment way ahead; sometimes 2 months before the time.
Certainly, before the day, you prepare everything that concerns your appearance and speech; you want it to be perfect!
Depending on the circumstance, you may be nervous or just alright. You keep it in mind that you have limited time which you need to make the best of ; You try to prioritise your speech so you only say relevant things for the occasion.
Did you get the hint from the analogy ?
The eye-opening reason you should cherish the time spent with God is because God has given you a free access to Him; You don’t need to book an appointment to meet or speak with God nor to bare your heart to Him.
What happens if you have to book an appointment with God?
Truth be told, you will cherish the time you get freely if you had to book an appointment. You won’t have to be told to even spend time with Him if you have to book a slot to see Him.
Since you don’t have to do this, I will suggest one key thing you should do to maximise this opportunity:
Make the most of each time you get to spend with God because God wants you to know that, although he’s listening, you don’t have to wait ages before you speak to Him.
Don’t be in a hurry to leave His presence; Speak to God, Enjoy it and Bask in His awesome nature.
Well, I hope you hold on to this reason and share it with as many that need to hear this and acquire this knowledge.
Hoping you learn to cherish the time you spend with God and your friends and family.
