When I first landed in Hungary in 2017, I was quite aloof as to what God would do in and through me.
While in prayer at the recent conference my church had in the city of the Debrecen, I said to the congregation: “It doesn’t matter what you think you’ve come to do in this country, God has put you here for a reason”.
Honestly, I’ve been quite reflective on how God has seen me through the last 7 years. It has been a roller coaster of ups and downs.
In my first year, while living in the city of Pécs, I rented an expensive flat with Internet issues. This was my first financial lesson that I won’t be quick to repeat.
Due to living above my means, I couldn’t go out much. Consequently, my routine was quite simple: go to school on the weekdays and fellowship on Sundays, then return home.
In reflection, I realized that God took that time to build my knowledge of Him and a routine with Him. Looking back, I consider that time as God laying His foundation in me.
Simple things like spending more time to pray, study my Bible (which I wasn’t keen on initially, lol) and listening to sermons contributed to my knowledge. Undoubtedly, associating with the right group of people also affected my outcome.
It’s never a question that God wants you to know Him better, no matter your situation. The question you should ask rather is: How is God helping me to know Him better?
1 John 5:20 AMPC says And we [have seen and] know [positively] that the Son of God has [actually] come to this world and has given us understanding and insight [progressively] to perceive (recognize) and come to know better and more clearly Him (God) Who is true; and we are in Him Who is true–in His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah). This [Man] is the true God and life eternal.
