Last week, while fasting, I realised that multiple thoughts were going through my mind all at the same time. Quite familiar for someone who’s used to overthinking. In place of that, I desired a calm mind. Then I thought, How does one calm their mind?
Honestly, I’ve heard of so many methods: journalling, watching something to distract yourself, taking a walk in nature, etc. All of these are amazing and I can vouch for some, but I couldn’t do any at that moment.
My mind went to the Bible app on my phone, so I decided to give it a try. Finding an audio Bible, I began listening to Malachi, my current study.
Throughout the time I listened, my mind was as calm as a dove. Up until last week, Bible study and I had quite some runs together. However, since then, my Bible has been my goto and solace.
It’s similar to dropping all your worries and worst-case scenarios for light. Having found this, why not share with you?
Colossians 3:2 NKJV says Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
Colossians 3:10 NKJV says and put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.
As believers in Christ Jesus, you and I are (wo)/men who renew our minds in the knowledge of God – the word of God.
In searching for Scriptures, I found Isaiah 26:3 NKJV – You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
My friend and I discussed this verse in the summer, and we explained it like this:
God is always willing to keep you in perfect peace. However, you have to be willing to stay your mind; focus on Him.
The action part is all yours to do; if you put your trust in God, your mind won’t wander.
The question now is, “Will you trust Him?”
