In the last few months, I’ve learned some on Grace, and I’d like to share that with you. Shall we take a walk through to Grace?
The first time I encountered Titus 2:11-12, I didn’t think much to it. However, after reading it and referencing it quite a number of times during Bible study, I began to understand.
God’s marvellous grace has manifested in person, bringing salvation for everyone. This same grace teaches us how to live each day as we turn our backs on ungodliness and indulgent lifestyles, and it equips us to live self-controlled, upright, godly lives in this present age.
Titus 2:11-12 TPT
From this verse, you see that grace personified is Jesus Christ; and with Jesus came salvation for all of us.
When you read vs. 12, you find that grace teaches us how to live as Christians. It shows us how to avoid ungodliness and indulgent lifestyles or worldly lusts.
In Romans 6 vs. 1-2, Apostle Paul writing to the Church in Rome asks, “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Never!” Furthermore, He goes on to ask, “How can we, the very ones who died to sin, continue to live in it any longer?”
Why would I, as a Christian, zoom in on sin and live daily conscious of it? When in actuality, I have died to it. Our focus, subsequently, should be the latter part of Titus 2:12:
Grace equips/shows you and I to live a life of self-control, uprightness, which is godly. (Paraphrased by me)
Quite honestly, I haven’t always known, but now that I know, there’s no turning back.
On Sunday in Church during Bible study, I came across Jude 4. Yeah, I’d read it before, but within the context, it made all the sense I didn’t have yet.
There have been some who have sneaked in among you unnoticed. They are depraved people whose judgment was prophesied in Scripture a long time ago. They have perverted the message of God’s grace into a license to commit immorality and turn against our only absolute Master, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jude 1:4 TPT (emphasis mine)
If you’ve ever thought that because Grace is available to you, you have the license to do whatever you please in negative terms. Let’s change that today.
Does grace preach laziness? No!
Will grace take you back even when you err? Certainly!
Does that mean you should continue in sin as you please? No!
What does it preach? Titus 2:12 – A life of self-control, uprightness, and godliness.
What if some Christians don’t let God live through them? Maybe they don’t know yet, but it shouldn’t stop you from living through God’s grace.
