Everyone relates to new things and situations differently especially when it affects them or their routine. When something dawns on you, it gives a new perspective or a different feeling. Likewise, it brings a difference in you and we’ll be looking at how to cope just before your new dawn.

Dawn

Google describes it as the beginning of a phenomenon or period of time , especially one considered to be favourable.

A new dawn for you can be when the sun shines again
after a dark period .

It could be the time or moment in your life when things turn around for the best. The essence of a new dawn is: it’s different to what you are used to. Specifically, it takes you out of your comfort zone, puts you on a learning course and gives you something to look forward to.

Christ’s sacrifice for our new dawn

When Jesus Christ came to the world, it was a really dark place because you and I were in our flawed state due to Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit and committing sin against God.

Jesus came and endured everything for our sake so that he could give us a new dawn: access to God and a personal relationship with him.

‘Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; ‘ Matthew 27:51-53

Immediately Jesus Christ died, our dawn came through. You and I gained access to God and in that access, we got joy, love and the knowledge of God.

Jesus left his throne to die for you. Likewise, he endured everything for you, he did not take the shorter route to the cross, he made sure everything he did mattered.

Your new dawn

Daniel 3:17

How about you? What are you saying? Do you secretly ask God in the silence of your heart “God when will my own come?” God has not left you, neither will he leave you. He records in Jeremiah 29:11 :

‘For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord , thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. ‘ Jeremiah 29:11

One notable thing about Christ’s sacrifice is that he went through a dark period before you and I could get our dawn. Whatever dark period you may be going through currently, always remember that God will not give you anything you cannot handle. Besides, at the end of that period, the sun will rise and shine in your life.

My turning point

It all started in church when I was listening to the sermon on the eve of 2019. The preacher spoke about :

The parable of the fig tree

‘He also spoke this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. ‘ Luke 13:6

‘Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’ ‘ Luke 13:7

I used to be like this tree at a point in my Christianity journey, I didn’t produce any fruit at all but I would act like I’m all holy. It was a dark period for me.

‘But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. ‘ Luke 13:8

All the while, Jesus was interceding on my behalf : God please give her another chance, I’ll help her realise what she needs to do.

‘And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.’ ”Luke 13:9

What if this one more year is God giving you time to produce good fruits or he would cut you down ? Those words sank deep into my spirit because I knew I did not want to live knowing that I heard all the good things about God but I could not tell a soul about God.

That was the turning point in my journey, essentially a new dawn for me because I got inspired to start writing.

2 Timothy 1:8
